Welcome to season two of Communication Unearthed. I am incredibly excited about what we created in season one, and even more about what we're creating for season two. So in season one, we really opened up a lot of conversations about how we communicate, how we understand each other, and some of the practical things that we can do when communication gets hard or there's a bit of friction there. And as we know, the more we learn, the more we grow, the more we grow, the more we can share with people. And so this is happening inside of this podcast here because the question that I'm becoming increasingly interested in isn't simply how do we communicate better, which is what I get asked a lot. I actually want to extend our thinking because it's for me, it's bigger than that. It's really about how do we create the conditions that bring out the best in people. I'll say that again. How do we create the conditions that bring out the best in people? In ourselves, in our relationships, in our families or our teams and the environments that we're responsible for building. Because I don't believe that great performance actually comes from simply asking more of people. I actually think that model needs to be put to bed because I think there's something much more powerful available when we can understand people deeply, lead ourselves well, build really strong relationships where dignity and difference can coexist together, and create and shape the sort of environments where people can contribute what they're capable of. And that's where we're heading in season two. We'll still talk about communication absolutely. We'll talk about leadership, relationships, conflict, culture, human behavior and performance. We'll look at what works with people, what doesn't, and why sometimes the things that we think should work actually don't. I'll share some of what I've learned, what I'm practicing, and what others are exploring and working through as well. Plus, we're also not going to just show the shiny side of things, we're going to show what I've gotten or what others have gotten spectacularly wrong and some of the thinking that I'm still developing. And from time to time, might even bring in some other brilliant humans just to see their conversations too, because I truly believe that when we bring different minds, experiences, and perspectives together, we create possibilities that none of us could have created alone. And that's what this next season is about. Not perfect people, never perfect communication, and certainly never the absence of disagreement or friction. It's about how do we lead ourselves, how do we meet each other, and how do we shape the environments around us so that more of what people are capable of has the opportunity to emerge. Because ultimately, I want to live and work in a world where we bring out the best in each other. And I reckon that that's worth a total conversation. Welcome to season two of Communication Unearthed.
